Servicing and Maintenance

Why Choose KEP Lifts for servicing and maintenance?

At KEP Lifts we pride ourselves on our comprehensive approach to our service and maintenance visits. If you are a lift owner or are responsible for a lift, then you have the duty of care to ensure your lift is safe for people to use whether they be yourself, family, customers or work colleagues. Regularly planned servicing of your lift is crucial to ensure you get optimal performance, reliability, comfort and safety from your lift. A regular service and maintenance visit can also provide early defect detection which can be rectified within the visit. If you are unfortunate to experience a breakdown our team can get you back up and running quickly.

Our Engineers are trained in the full checks and maintenance procedures in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines for the many lift brands available in the UK.  Their combined experience, advanced diagnostic tools and supply of common replacement parts mean that return visits can be kept to a minimum and so your costs. We comply with Lift Cert standard and follow BS EN 13015 and SFG20 as an overall standard for lift maintenance as well as following specific manufacturers guidelines.

What is included in a service?

Every lift is different in its exact requirements, this is why every service varies. All lifts however are checked for the following:

Wearable parts are inspected - any wear noted is logged on our reports

Lubrication - An important aspect of servicing, oilers are refilled or suitable lubricant is applied wherever required.

Safety checks - All lifts have a number of ‘safety switches’, this may be infrared curtains, safety edges, door contacts etc. It’s vital for the safe use of a lift that these switches are checked in order to prevent injury.

Function checks - while a lift may appear to be in good operation, certain functions may not be working. Servicing checks for all these issues and helps diagnose where the issue may be.

Batteries/UPS - Batteries often play an important part of the operation of a lift. Whether that be through normal operation or in the event of an emergency. Many lifts ‘Breakdown’ if battery charge is insufficient, often this can be avoided through regular servicing.

Cleaning - Depending on the lift type, many require debris to be removed, old lubrications cleaned or inaccessible areas to the customer to be swept.

Training - Our engineers always make the effort to ensure our customers are aware of what to do in an emergency or ways in which they can improve the performance of the lift.

Engineer’s Report - this will include any observations on the condition of the lift or recommendations for future action where applicable

How often should my lift be serviced?

There are many types of lifts and they will be used in differing frequencies. The age of your lift also needs to be considered. As with most machinery the older it gets the maintenance can change. Our Customer Support is experienced in identifying the frequency best suited to your lift and circumstance. Then once our engineers are on site they will either agree or make a more informed recommendation so that you can get the most out of your lift.
